Catch Up Time

I am going to post some pictures that will show you what we have been doing at our house.

Brennen is watching Dadda mow the grass

Brennen's first day a Prestonwood CLC

Brennen had a run in with the kitchen chair and has battle marks to prove it.

These last few pics are of Brennen playing in Dadda's new truck. He loves to play in the truck. He always wants the music on and the doors shut. His new word lately is..Mine. Everything is his. From the truck to mommy's drink off the table.

Angel or Defiant-not much in the Middle

Well, not a lot of exciting things going on in our world. I just thought these were cute pictures and I wanted to share. Brennen will be 18 months old on Thursday. I really can't believe it has been 18 months. It seems like just yesterday that I was praying for a full 8 hours of sleep. Now he sleeps 10-12 hours a night and takes a 2-3 hour nap everyday. It is wonderful. He is a really good boy and so sweet. He will give kisses and hugs now. He loves any kind of water, from the bathtub to the swimming pool and the toliet if I am not watching. If he is fussy I just put him in water. It usually calms him down.

He can pull himself onto our bed without any help. Our bed is really tall and he stands on the side railing and pulls himself up with the fitted sheets. I saw him do this for the first time this week. Then he loves to jump on the bed. He has learned to turn around and slide off the bed, and anywhere else he has climbed onto, feet first instead of on his head.

He is so much fun right now and I know it is only going to get better. The older he gets the more things we will get to experience with him. He has turned our world upside down, but he teaches us so many things. He is such a happy little boy. Yes, we have our very defiant day, but we also have our angel days.

This past Thursday he tested me every minute he was awake. He even woke up at midnight crying. I think he was just trying to see if I would come get him.....and I did. No matter what I said he did the opposite to see what he could get away with. Then when Barrett got home he tested him. Thursday was one of his defiant days. Then Friday came along and he was a true angel. He slept until 8:30am, which means I got the sleep in a little. Then we went to lunch at Chick-fil-a and he ate his meal without fussing. Then he went to the play area and played all by himself without crying. (Yes, there is a big window that I could see him through). Then we went to Wal-Mart and he never fussed even though we were about 30 minutes late for his nap. When we got home he took a 3 hour nap without any problems. He got up in a good mood and we went to "Going Bonker" so he could play. We played there until 9pm and then came home. He went to bed without a fight and slept all night. He was such a wonderful baby that day. Those days definately overshadow the defiant days.

Brennen is getting to actually eat off of a plate. I know...he is growing up too fast. He loves his pancakes and he didn't even throw the plate on the floor. That is a plus in my book. He also has started showing off for the camera. This is really the first time he has done this, but he would smile everytime I would take a picture.

Cousin's Week

We had a great week with Jake. He came and stayed with us for 10 days. We miss you already Jake. Jake came down last Thursday and stayed until today. We had Barrett's cousin and his family here from Thursday until Sunday and then it was just Barrett, Jake Brennen and I this past week. Jake went to swim camp everyday and had lots of fun. We rode bikes, played in the jump house, played at the park, went to Going Bonkers and Chick-fil-A and had lots of cookies and ice cream. We played chutes and ladders, connect 4 and built tents and caves out of the couch pillows. We went swimming and Barrett took Jake to a Texas Ranger game. I didn't think Brennen would enjoy it much so I stayed home with him. We fit as much as we could into 10 days and now we are all exhausted. So sleep well Jake, we will be doing the same here for the next couple of days. We love you and can't wait for you to come stay with us again. Thanks Nana for coming to stay with us for a couple of days also. We always have fun when you are here.

Nothing New

Nothing really new going on here. Barrett and I were out of town last week and Brennen stayed with my parents. He had a blast, but I don't have any of those pictures yet. This is my first week off work. I am off until Sept. 5th, but this is my second day off and I have had to work both days so far. I am not sure how this is going to work out. Hopefully I will be able to have a few days a week with just me and Brennen. If not I will just postpone this time off until after September. I am going to post a few pictures of the last couple of weeks and I will post more later of Brennen's week with Nana, Pots and Jake at Grandkids week.

Vacation Pictures

Here are a few pictures from out vacation to Gulf Shores, AL. I only took 510 pictures so I won't be able to share them all. I will make a slide show soon and post it with more pictures. We had a great time and Brennen had fun at the beach. He was so much fun, except for the actual drive. I guess that comes with age, but he only slept 45 minutes out of the 7 hour drive to Jackson, MS the first night. And when he is not sleeping he is screaming to get out if his car seat. It was a rough drive to say the least. On the way home he slept from Gulf Shores to Mobile (1 hour) where we dropped memaw off at the airport. Then he did not go back to sleep for about 7 hours. Endless screaming and praying was happening during those 7 hours. Then he took a 30 minute nap and he was up again. So needless to say it was a very rough drive, but while we were there it was wonderful.

Brennen is sick

Brennen has not been feeling well for the last 10 days or so. We thought he was teething, and he was. Then about 4 days ago he started running a fever. I didn't want to take him to the doctor so I tried to wait this one out. Yesterday his temp was up to 102.5 and I thought we better call the doc. So we took him in this morning and the doc saw a rash and said he has a virus. He told me the virus usually last 3-5 days and if I would have waited one more day Brennen would probably be fine. However, I am sure he didn't mind the extra $20 from me and whatever my insurance pays for office visits, for the 5 minutes he spent with us. Not a bad days work if you ask me. I feel like if I don't take Brennen to the doc and he ends up being really sick then I am a bad mom and if I do take him to the doc and there is nothing they can do for him then I am an overreactive, bad mom. So either way, you guessed it, I am a bad mom when it comes to taking my child to the doctor. The last time I took him to the doc he told me to wait 10 days and call him if he wasn't better. Yes I waited 3 hours in the waiting room and paid my $20 for that visit too. Anyone else feel this way?

The Airport Adventure

Stephanie, Amy and Stephanie one last time......hopefully next time this picture will be in Paris.

The boys with their babies.
On April 17, 2008 some of our very dear friends left to go live in Paris and fulfill their calling. Barrett, Brennen and I, and our friends Matt, Stephanie, Lucas and Georgia Harrington went to the airport to see them off. We were sad to see them go, but very happy for them.
